Why chemistry is fun…
July 10, 2009It’s my 4th and last chemistry for my undergraduate years and yet sometimes i can’t help but ask my self why did i take those subjects if i can shift out of my course (which is Biology by the way) in order to avoid the computations and ratios of the acidity and whatsoever of different reagents. I do not really hate chemistry, in fact i even toyed the idea of shifting in to that course but sometimes really, i hate spending 6 hours a week in a laboratory hundred years of age. Thanks to my professors and I still manage to LOVE chemistry despite the ironies. ha ha.
Of course, i can’t narrate to you how my professor in chemistry makes me laugh during her lectures because it would take me hours of typing and explanation of how these lines relate to our topics in biochemistry. Just to give an overview of how cool our professor is, the following are her lines i quoted:
“two points constitute a line, but since there are three, then it’s a hydrogen bond”
“glutamate is all over. Monosodium glutamate constitutes your ketchup, soy sauce, fish sauce and the like, so don’t ever blame the chinese for your headaches”
“well, Biochemistry by Boyer will be our reference book. Actually, we are pioneering the use of this textbook since other schools have started using this already, including that parking lot beside Ateneo.”
”….well it’s not a good protein to use (refering to Tryptophan and other large proteins), but for government’s work, it’s good.”
