GOD is a god of possibilities (a bio116 update)
July 8, 2009Last week, when i was still busy cramming for the formal report on isolation and characterization of proteins, i managed to write emails to different professors of prestigious universities such as Harvard and Stanford. those were requestsfor a journal reprint of their articles recommended by Pechenik (our reference book) for our My Research Focus Box, a requirement in our Biology 116, Invertebrate Zoology elective. Not to metion Sir Mamaril who named the requirement as such. I remember during our first meeting, sir Mamaril encouraged us to write to these authors and request for the reprints but warned us that we may not get any response due to the fact that those men are really busy professionals. Well it was a sarcastic rendition of the mock “who are you anyway to ask some of my precious time”. And so he advised us to check the main library and libraries outside the university instead.
One week, or to be exact 6 days passed by and i did not open my UP webmail. It was only an hour ago that i noticed 4 inbox messages I received the same day i sent those emails!!i received not only ONE response but FOUR responses coming from FOUR authors. Now that means 4 reprints needed out of 6. You see, I wasn’t even expecting this to happen and moreover, i didn’t expect this to be too soon! I do not know if this is a typical story but then it is a pride for my part. ha ha! Who says it is impossible? it is not! GOD is around for help! And this is just a simple testimony of HIS overwhelming grace. Now, i can start the 2-page article and rest assured, GOD will be by my side as i write this journal. 
ONE Heart to GIVE (a late post)

February is the give-all-for-your-loved-one month that’s why the love merchandise is in.
I was struck when a friend handed me a red envelope. At first I was thinking it was late for the Chinese New Year but then when I saw the heart-shaped candy attached to the lid, I realized how stupid I was. She smiled as I accepted the ‘gift’ and then she uttered ‘For you my friend, happy single awareness day’. Sweet but I admit it, I was bitter. She did that to all of us; those who didn’t have a date for the valentine but didn’t even care to find one. At that moment, I felt anxious without knowing the reason why. The antics didn’t seem enough to justify the anxiety rushing over my veins. It felt like I am about to do something wrong; something I must or perhaps must not do. I drained my brain cells thinking about it until finally I gave up.
It was Friday and before I merged with the crowd for the Bamboo thingy, I decided to first put of my armour and hurried to the sanctuary. I remember walking towards the place with my friends and I told them I was expecting something to happen which in turn they guessed to be something romantic. I yielded to their guessing, to the idea of having a ‘perfect date’ for that night.
ONE plus ONE equals ONE. Those are the first words that struck me. Algebra tells me to oppose and defend him but because of my traumatic math classes, and because of my trust in the speaker, I agreed. And as I yielded to the phrase, realization sank in and I caught myself wondering.

God created Adam and provided him all his needs at the right time. It was a perfect way of living and so Adam praised and loved God with all of his being. He knew what he was about to do during the span of his life, and it’s none other than to praise and glorify God’s name until his death. In short, he was content and he was in a good relationship with the creator. Amidst the perfect life, God knew something is lacking. He knew He has to give Adam more and so He created Eve out of Adam’s ribs. That was the start of the first carnal love story and there was no doubt Adam loved God more.

Trying to figure out what was in the message that I could digest before the end of the service, I tried to play dead for a couple of minutes but the husky voice of the preacher jolted me back as he told the congregation, “YOU THERE, WILL YOU ENTRUST YOUR LOVE STORY WITH GOD?” And then there was the gist, do I really need to wait for God to give me my man or should I run the world and try to find him? I’ll be a hypocrite if I say I just want to be single but whenever I think of the question, the idea of playing the I-will-wait-for-you drama seems not that bad. AH! I don’t know. What’s certain is the fact that there are 3 things I need to satisfy in order to meet my ‘God’s Best’:
1. I need to establish a deeper relationship with God and enjoy it in order to be complete.
2. I have to believe that I already know my destiny. I know who will I serve and how will I serve him . And then all that’s left to ask , will be , “Lord, with whom?”
3. I need to be contented like Adam. I don’t need to be anxious about anything.
I know once I’ve already satisfied these conditions, my ‘God’s Best’ will walk right in front of my face and tell me how long he has been searching for me. Only then can I tell myself, “This is the love story written by God”.
It’s a test of faith…
July 7, 2009it’s a cold tuesday night and i am cramming my formal report in chemistry due thursday. I knew it was late for me to start the work but then the laziness inside of me predominated and so i started scribbling past 9 pm. Two hours later, i was able to finish all the computations. I was roughly finished with the tables in my report when all of a sudden, the laptop flashed an error and so MS word closed by itself only to find out i wasn’t able to save my work. And what happened? of course all that’s left for me to do is to redo all the tables and figures. I was about to curse when suddenly i remember i wasn’t that fair to GOd. i haven’t opened His book tonight and yes to my dismay, i forgot to worship Him this day. And so instead of ranting, i opened my playlist and have His songs played while i was redoing the things i humbly worked on two hours ago. I was in the verge of crying because i do not know when to start and what to say. But God never leaves something unfinished, one message to a friend and boom! he gave me a copy of past reports. Now i can work on my report more confidently. Praise God for his works. Praise God for his way of telling people to STOP and LISTEN…
I LOVE YOU LORD! though sometimes it pains me to accept all the consequences. (ha ha). I LOVE YOU LORD. Amen.
Ultimate Package: Savior and Lord as One

Jesus died on the cross. Jesus laid His life for us. We are saved. All our sins are gone. All the past is gone. We just need to accept Him as our Savior and most importantly as our LORD.
LORDSHIP is a word we often taken for granted. We always say we beileve Jesus died for us; that he saved us from the fires of the hell, that HE is OUR Savior. But then, have we asked ourselves, have we also accepted Him as our LORD? Jesus emphasized on the requirement for salvation and that is to accept Him as OUR LORD and SAVIOR, which means we let him move into our lives, and conquer all the corners of our hearts and all the areas in our lives. When Jesus declared this gift, He wanted us to OBEY. A good servant obeys his MASTER. And when we obey, it should not be an obligation but it should come from the heart just as how a loving child obeys his parents. You see, salvation is a take-it-or-leave-it package. It is accepting Jesus as your LORD and SAVIOR or nothing at all.
LORDSHIP seems so simple but little do we know that we haven’t touched its grounds yet. Have you obeyed GOD? In a stressful day and you have a lot of choices to make, would you consider obeying GOD when faced in decision-making? When you are down and helpless and you wanted to fight, would you OBEY if He tells you to calm down and let it pass? You see, LORDSHIP is more than the act of saying ‘yes, master’. It is like saying “Lord, Take all of Me” rather than saying “Lord, take this”. It is more of surrendering your life to Him and letting Him work rather than handing Him your troubles and waiting for his answers. And unlike a race, it doesn’t stop for it doesn’t have a finish line. It is a continuous walk or run towards spiritual growth. As children of GOD, we need to OBEY, and the first step to obedience is to yield everything. TRUST GOD as you DISCOVER HIS GREATNESS. And once you found the truth and light in HIS word, you will surely OBEY.
Prison Break: My break
July 1, 2009While the keyboard ticks as i write this post, the other tab is in the online episode of Prison Break season 4. Hell yeah, i have been trying to complete the last season of this series over the summer and yet until now, i am still in the process of enjoying every episode towards the finale. Crap. I should have been running after the Season 3 of Supernatural these days. Or maybe finish the 1st season of True blood. And oh, not to mention the go-back-the-next-day drama just because of the defective DVDs of Chuck that I unfortunately picked out from the tiangge in Philcoa. Whew! DVD Series really make and unmake my day.Really.
Last night, i was cramming this Formal report on the extraction of proteins and i was engrossed on the idea of obsessive-compulsiveness which my laboratory professor tries to inculcate in our mind and soul every meeting; that every method in biochemistry is important and each step is crucial. Oh well, how’d you imagine proteins floating in your milk at breakfast and figuring out how to get them out for 3 hours huh? Or how would you manage to get the accurate protein concentration of the egg you are holding which an hour ago was still on Manang Elsie’s tray? or how about figuring out how to catch up with the lecture class right after the laboratory hours knowing that your professor is a genius that she even talks faster than you reading the recommended book silently?Now that would mean losing a whole bunch of information in a few seconds that you come in late. It’s true, really.That is biochemistry. You’d spent hours brooding over things and yet you end up doing nothing because at some point you enjoy comforting yourself every single day. That’s a hell lot of confidence you will earn at the end of the semester. Ha ha!

I love it! ha haha. Oh well,by the way i am in a cafe right now because for some stupid reasons i did not bring my mom’s notebook with me. Now that means i have to pay 25 php after i finish episode 17 of Prison break. ha ha ha! I should have been studying comparative anatomy the moment my classes ended a while ago but then i realized it’s too soon. The quiz will be tomorrow anyway so why study now. And at a point, Prison Break is more exciting than rodents and snakes.
Speaking of biology, i just got out of the PUH, the Philippine Herbarium found here in the university. We had meeting with the Great Leonard Co, our professor in Plant taxonomy. The meeting started at 230 and since he’s such an enthusiastic biologist, he was able to tour us in his fave spots through his digital herbarium and parks stored in his laptop. Point is, we spent an hour and a half enjoying all the pictures and choosing which forest we should be dealing with.Oh the idea is there, we are going to have a field trip! Hurrah! And that would happen some time in September. Where? Either in Quezon or in the Cordilleras, whatever the body chooses. Now i have the right reason to buy the 10-x magnifiying lens in order to see the crystals and stipules. ha ha ha! i just don’t know if i can buy a lace and wear it around my neck. Ew. like that’s too nerdy! (I am now sounding senseless here).
Bottom line is, i am exhausting my break by watching prison break and of course, blogging. At the moment i am staring at the clock, wanting for the second hand to move to number 6. That’s the cue i have to stop writing. But since i am running out of words here and i haven’t chosen a nice topic to blog about, then i’d rather end this post now. As in , NOW.
